About

Sharkbomb Audio

Background

My name is Evan Demsey. I am currently an electrical engineering student at the University of Virginia. I got into electrical engineering and audio equipment design in 2020, when I learned about the mythical “Klon Centaur” pedal. I learned some of the basics of pedal building and audio design, and the rest followed after.

I officially started branding my work under the name Sharkbomb Audio once I knew that this was a hobby I wanted to pursue. I started off making pedals for myself to mimic the sound of some of my favorite guitarists. I eventually started selling pedals to friends and accepting repair jobs from both friends and local used music stores. My journey stepped up to the next level in 2023, when I reached out to Paul of Paul Reed Smith guitars, who accepted me as an intern. During my internship at PRS, I built, modified, and designed several pieces of equipment for Paul’s personal studio, as well as assisted with amplifier repairs in the factory.

Now I am primarily a student; however, I still build guitar pedals in my lab space and on breaks when I go home. I love learning new skills to inform my designs and working on new projects. I believe that a better understanding on what your pedal is doing internally allows you to better connect with your gear. If you ever have questions on how my gear works, feel free to reach out!
